Hi there

We have been ttc for over 2 yrs now after I came off the pill which I was on for over 7 yrs. We've had a miscarriage and a few chemicals. All our test results have come normal and we are both healthy in our early 30s. We don't drink or smoke and eat healthy. My hycosy showed that everything was normal. Clear tubes and high egg reserve I was told. Partner's sperm analysis came out normal as well. We've had one round of letrozole and the day 21 bloods showed that it was at 43 which is really good apparently. After trying letrozole once my cycle has become a normal 30 day cycle instantly for the first time since I came off the pill. We tried every other day since cd7 yet it has failed. Our fertility consultant called it unexplained infertility and that it's inconclusive and we just have to keep trying.

I do realise it's not an easy journey and I need to be more patient but I can't shake off this feeling that something must be wrong for it to keep failing. Tbh it'll be easier for me to cope if I know what the issue is at least.

I'm hoping to get some insight from others who have had similar experiences and any suggestions are welcome too.

Thanks 🙂

I haven't had experience with the medication you mentioned but I am under gynae consultants as we have been trying for 3 years but I'm now 5+1 with everything crossed! Me and hubby both have children from previous relationships, both been tested Sperm and egg reserve good. They said I had a hydrosalpinx which everything on Google was telling me doesnt go away by itself but hospital said it does lol. I had a scan almist 3 weeks ago almost bang on ovulation and they said my left ovary was 'bulky' whatever the hell that means haha. She said it could be a little bit pcos. Come to find out that actually that happens to your tubes during ovulation sometimes and this month I'm pregnant. Absolutely nothing happened for over a year no pregnancy at all and I honestly thought oh well I'm 34 now my body has just given up! I resigned myself to just keep going with consultants and ivf might be the option we have to use and honestly I think that acceptance took the stress away.

I guess in that massive rant what I'm trying to say is don't give up, don't worry (easier said that done I know), just have fun having lots of sex haha and let the consultants do their thing and u never know like me it might just happen and shock the life out of you!!

Good luck xxxx

I had unexplained infertility for few years. But I realised it because of my vegan diet and being too slim. As soon as I gained weight and ate more varied diet with more vitamins I got pregnant.

Hi Julie

my ex partner and I had issues. There is a forum on the fertility network which may benefit you. The women on that have all went through similar experiences and are very knowledgeable on the subject.

they will be able to offer more advice that may assist you.

i underwent 2 rounds of IVF it is not an easy journey and can often be quite a lovely one, but I wish you the best of luck

Thank you so much for your reply. I have never heard of that forum but I will have a look. It has been a very overwhelming experience. Hopefully it'll be over soon xx

Have they not offered you options with the NHS? Such as IUI medical or non medical. Usually with unexplained infertility after 2 years you can be referred to fertility clinic for assistance. Obviously the waits are lengthy but this is what happened for us, we got an unexplained infertility diagnosis, and issued 4 rounds of a medicated iui. You need a bmi of 30 in some areas, others areas i believe it’s bmi 25 it varies and it’s a post code lottery. We’ve been TTC for 5 years. Depends on your post code how many try’s your given also.

Hi thanks for your reply. We waited forever till we got referred and it's only my second cycle with their team so they are going to try with letrozole first, gradually increasing the dosage and if it fails they will move to other options like what you have mentioned xx
