I am looking for recovery stories in terms of PND. I was diagnosed in Dec 23 and have been on medication since then but so far I am not feeling back to my old self. I also do talking therapies but again not seeing an immediate impact. Some days I feel like it will never go away and that the doctors don’t know how to help (my experiences with some mental health support specialists have not been great). It seems we are still in the trial and error stage. Any advice on the following would be so appreciated

  • what helped with your recovery and how long did it take?
  • if you experienced intrusive thoughts like my baby does not love me and/or prefer his dad to me, what worked for you in terms of keeping them in check or not believing this in your heart
  • any helpful resources. I have read many books on the topic but so far found them either overwhelming or not helpful.

thank you for listening

Hi Asm

I'm Catherine, one of the Parent Supporters here at Netmums. Thanks for sharing with us. Sending you a gentle hug this evening. I can see you are hoping for some advice from our community but I wanted to signpost you to some other resources which you may find helpful. You may find the resources and supports on the Tommy's website useful: The Signs of Postnatal Depression (tommys.org). Another helpful website and charity is PANDAS: Home – PANDAS Foundation UK. You might also like to have a look at the MIND website too : Perinatal and postnatal mental health - Mind

Asm, It's positive to hear that you have some support as well from professionals. Many mums experience PND and with the right support things will improve but it can take time for medication to begin to feel like it is working. Have they offered you any counselling as well? Asm, you aren't alone. Hopefully some of our lovely community will be along soon to offer support but please come back to us if you would like to chat some more. We are hear to listen.
