Her Dad takes her back to visit the gang she got into, is there anything I can do to stop him?

I used to allow my daughter to visit a friend at a holiday park. I discovered that she had been given alcohol and drugs by this gang of kids. She was 13. I prevented her going so she told her dad I was neglecting her and she wanted to live with him 5 hours away. He took it to court and I agreed with Cafcass that she could live with her dad because it would be 5 hours away from the gang. He now takes drives her 5 hours to the holiday park to visit the gang. Should I take it to court to stop him? Is the court likely to agree to bring her back to live with me? I feel I have no rights as a mother. The court says she is old enough to make up her own mind, I have not neglected her but I have expressed that she is in danger going back to the gang. what can I do?

Hi Liz

I’m Lauren one of the parent supporters here on Netmums. You are understandably concerned about your daughter and that she is in contact with these young people that she was involved with previously.

At present there is a court agreement that she stays with her Dad. Is that right? You could seek to return to court to challenge that but it would likely involve another court process and assessment. As she is the age she is her wishes will be taken into consideration.

A good source of support when you are worried about the safety of a child is the NSPCC. They have a helpline that can give you some advice and support https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/reporting-abuse/nspcc-helpline/#

I hope that is helpful
