My daughter is 11 has had OCD with intrusive thoughts and compulsions since she was 8 and it has been very very difficult to get her any support eventually we have had to pay privately for it as Doctor couldn’t help!

CAMHS in Stockport wont offer CBT as say she already has a Private Counsellor and if they did offer any help she would only get 6 weeks of treatment!

NHS have a shortage of therapists we really needed to petition for better mental health support for children!

Hi Natasha

I'm Catherine, one of the Parent Supporters at Netmums. Thanks for sharing with us. I can hear your frustrations around accessing services but hopefully the private support you have in place has been helpful for your daughter. It would be very normal practice for services and practitioners to not become involved if another clinician is already working with a child or young person. Have you heard of Young Minds? Their website has lots of information and you might like to explore this for support: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) | Parent Guide | YoungMinds

Best wishes

Catherine
