Please can I have some advice as I don't know what to do , I've been living with a guy for nearly a year , I care about him and I know this probably sounds awful but I don't love him like my ex who was the love of my life , I've now found out that my ex has got cancer ,there doing tests and not sure what stage it's at but he's very ill , I don't want to be with my boyfriend anymore ,I want to look after my ex ,we both love each other but he says he wants to get though the cancer first , I just don't know what to tell my boyfriend as I said i do love him and don't want to hurt , I would appreciate any advice thank you

Be with the one you're with and pray for your ex. He doesn't want you that's why he left in first place.

If you don’t love your current boyfriend….leave. Don’t string him along. That’s unfair. Tell him you care for him but don’t love him and leave him. BUT do not go back to your ex. There’s a reason why you split up. Think on that. You can be there for him and after he gets better then think about your relationship with him but for now I don’t think you should BE with him.

He didn't leave me ,and he told me last week that's he's still in love with me and always will , I just want to look after him but he says he wants to fight the cancer first

Do you mind us asking why you split up in the first place? As that would kind of depend whether you go back really.

having found out recently my first true love passed away I say don’t have any regrets. im struggling to come to terms with it because our split was over something and nothing and we were both too stubborn to sort it out so carried on our separate lives.

If you don't love your boyfriend, leave him. But I wouldn't rush back to your ex. If he doesn't want to get back together yet, I would respect his wishes. You can still support him but be careful of repeating old mistakes. He is your ex for a reason after all.

If you love your ex more then why delay the inevitable? Do the right thing and break up with your boyfriend. Don't announce you are back with your ex until around 3 months later to make it look like you reconnected after the break up.

My ex has problems with prescription drugs but he got help and sorted it, we never stopped loving each other

Time is precious, your ex having cancer should help to make you see that life is too short to be with some one that you don't love, it's not fair on him, or you so whatever happens I think that you know that it's over.

With regards to your relationship with your ex, I'd recommend not going in all in on a romantic relationship at first, battling cancer is both physically and emotionally draining for the poorly person but also for their loved ones and it will take lots of strength and courage to get through it.

Be there for him, spend time together and see where that takes you.

Wishing you all the best whatever happens and hoping that his prognosis is good x
