Buddha Baby - massage and yoga

About

Established in Wanstead since 2007, Buddha Baby has built an excellent reputation as one of the best independent providers of parent and baby classes in the local area! I aim to ensure both you and your baby to leave each Buddha Baby session feeling refreshed and revitalised and I have also become rather famous for the traditional homemade cakes enjoyed by my clients and their families!

Baby Massage
This popular course enables you to learn the massage strokes and techniques, as developed by the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) and includes guidance on relieving baby's digestive problems or colic. Everything you need is provided including baby mats, towels and tissue, handouts and some organic massage oil. Classes are very relaxed and there is plenty of time for discussions and informal chat. Refreshments, including tea and coffee and fresh fruit are served as part of the session and also include my homemade cakes!

Baby Yoga
Baby yoga perfectly complements baby massage, expanding the benefits of touch with gentle movement, and includes effective techniques that can be practiced instantly, anywhere and at anytime! Yoga moves, especially adapted for babies, are combined throughout the session, with post-natal yoga for new mothers, bringing a unique opportunity for babies and parents to enjoy calming and playful interactions together! Songs and rhymes to match short sequences of movement bring a fun and joyful element to each session. Each class finishes with a soothing joint relaxation time. Everything you need is provided including yoga mats, cushions and blankets.

I also run a fabulous baby music course (please see music listings page) and am a babywearing consultant. Lots of local mums know me so ask around!

* 5 week courses (massage, music, yoga)
* small group classes
* everything you need is provided - just bring yourself and your baby
* home-made refreshments enjoyed at every session

Course fees: massage £95, music £85, yoga £75

Wonderful classes, thoughtfully put together by a kind and generous teacher. Sally has the knack of making both mum and baby feel special and nurtured. She creates an environment where you and your baby can learn and bond together (regardless how tired/grumpy you both may feel - I have left every class feeling positive, calm(er) and rejuvenated). Not only this but she teaches you the skills and techniques to bring such moments into everyday life with your baby. Lucas and I have done a number of the Buddha baby classes. We began with Baby Nurture when he was 11 weeks old (a lovely experience during his early days) and have since done Baby Yoga (at 5 months and 7 months) and Baby Music (at 6 and 8 months). Each class has been unique as Sally gently and thoughtfully caters for the needs of the specific mums and babies present. Thank you Sally for some special times, Katie and baby Lucas xxx

Sally is absolutely wonderful and her classes are a lot of fun for both baby and mummy. I did the Baby Yoga course twice and we really enjoyed it! Highly recommended :)

I completed 2 terms of yoga and took the music course with Sally too. We absolutely loved every lesson! In fact we loved it so much we did the music course twice! I would have loved to continue to do all classes offered by Sally but my little one has begun to crawl so unfortunately we must move on! Sally's classes were a special place for us to spend time together, but were also a lovely time to be with other babies and mums. Atmosphere was relaxed, warm and easy. I learnt lots of songs, play ideas, and yoga to practise at home and have found my baby to be more relaxed and more sociable. She also sleeps better now I've learnt some tricks from Sally! I feel the classes helped me learn new things about my baby and helped my baby develop. My baby first rolled over both front and back in Sally's classes! It was clearly a place she felt comfortable, happy, and eager to progress! She loves the songs we learnt there and I know she will miss Sally lots. Sally- if you do decide to do courses for older babies let me know and sign us up!!!

I can't recommend Sally's classes highly enough. Some of the happiest moments I have spent with my son have been during the classes or doing yoga / massage / singing at home. It was also good to talk to other mums in such a such a supportive environment. Not forgetting the cakes and biscuits which are delicious!

Baby yoga with Sally is fantastic. Before we started the classes I was sceptical but intrigued about baby yoga. This is definitely one of the best classes we have attended. It's fun, informal and both me and my little girl enjoyed every week. I think it's very important to teach babies how to relax and this is a great class to develop this skill, Sophia would leave calm, happy and sleep very well afterwards.

This was the second course we did with Sally (having already completed the Baby Massage course). It was a great bonding experience and I learnt some wonderful and valuable skills that I can use everyday. I have become more confident as a mum because of these new skills. Sally's classes very warm and welcoming! I would definitely recommend that you do this course!

As a new Mum I found this class wonderful in so many ways it was great way to bond with my newborn baby and taught me how to handle him with much more confidence and ease. It was a lovely way to spend The morning at Sally's cosy warm home. Also her homemade cake and coffee was always a delight at the end of each class. I actually went on to do her baby singing class and baby yoga class which were both very enjoyable. Amanda and baby charlie

Spent 5 wonderful weeks doing baby massage at buddha baby in wanstead with Sally. I cannot express how wonderful the massage techniques we've learnt from Sally have benefitted baby Jack.  After the class he's zonked out in blissful sleep from having a wonderful relaxing massage.  Having it in her home really is wonderful, Sally is so warm, friendly and welcoming and her home made cake is SO greatly appreciated - I know it's what I look forward to every week!!  This really is a wonderful class for a new mum, it's also a great way to meet other new mums, as the class size is small, so we have great chats. Great value and the babies love it.

My baby and I loved this course. As well as being fun and a great way to interact with each other, it was also very relaxing. The yoga exercises were explained and demonstrated very well, and each week there was a natural progression to more advanced moves. Plus, the home made cakes provided at the end of each session were delicious. I would highly recommend this course... I enjoyed it so much I am going to do it again!

A beautifully designed class in a warm relaxed atmosphere that happily incorporates yoga for both mums and babies. Sally is an excellent, attentive instructor and the class is well-paced, providing lots of song, movement and sequences to keep baby interested. There is also a soothing relaxation time at the end - great for tired mums! I left the class feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, and my little boy would have a lovely long sleep! Highly recommended.

My Monday afternoons over the last 5 weeks have been heavenly thanks to Sally, her massage teaching skills and her cakes! Sally's flat, where the course takes place, is a little oasis of calm and tranquility - the perfect environment in which to enjoy a spot of baby bonding as well as a chat with other mums. I cannot recommend this highly enough. Thanks Sally!

I thoroughly recommend this course to parents. Sally is a very warm, welcoming and knowledgable teacher and she takes you through each massage thoroughly, explaining how they can adapted for different babies. I have found that it is more than just a course; it gives new Mum's (or 2nd time Mum's like myself - it's so good I've done it twice!) the chance to share advice and thoughts on motherhood. The course is in a relaxing, homely setting and the cake is always divine.

I took my 5 month old son along to Sally's baby massage classes and we both absolutely loved them! The course itself is brilliant. Each week you learn a different part of the body to massage before eventually putting it all together. The atmosphere is very chilled and relaxed in gorgeous surroundings which makes it ideal! You also get some of Sally's lovely home made cakes at the end of each class - they are delicious! It's also great meeting new mums and sharing experiences. I strongly recommend this course and will definitely be going back with my second!

Sally's baby massage classes are about so much more than just baby massage. Of course it's nice to learn a lovely thing to do with your baby, but it's also a chance to meet other mom's and babies, have a chat and eat amazing cake...what more could you want in a morning?!

I highly recommend Sally's class, it is held in her home which is welcoming and inviting. She bakes delicious cakes for the class every week. The class is very relaxing and informative with technique handouts every week. It's great for bonding with your baby which you can carry on after you have completed the class. If you can only do one baby class - do this one!

I would recommend this course to any mum. Sally teaches it wonderfully. Its not rushed and the course is taken at a gentle pace. The setting is lovely and cosy, and its a great way to spend some quality bonding time with baby. It also includes songs to go with each massage stroke which my baby loves. We both had a brilliant time each session.

I cannot recommend this course enough! Being a second time mum, I've been around the block when it comes to baby classes and Sally's massage class is head and shoulders above the rest. The class is a wonderfully bonding experience in a relaxing environment. Sally is both passionate and professional in the way she teaches baby massage and refreshingly she doesn't try and flog you products unlike many other baby classes who are all after a fast buck! I can't wait to start her music class which follows on from the massage.

My baby and I loved this class and the instructor. The time spent with each other and with other mums and babies was invaluable in his early months. Baby massage is now a wonderful part of our weekly routine. And the cakes were the stuff of legend!

Just finished massage classes with Sally. Thoroughly enjoyed these. Sally is a great teacher, Sally, her house and her teaching are both enjoyable and relaxing. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for baby massage. AND!... Sally's baking is amazing I would sign up for the cakes alone.

I've just finished a massage course with Sally and will really miss it - in fact I've already signed up for a new baby music course with her so that we can continue going round on a monday morning! The atmosphere is wonderfully calm and relaxed and you get delicious home-made cakes each week. I would recommend this course to any new mum, or to any mum looking to spend some quality bonding time with a young baby.

Sally's Baby massage classes are fantastic - the relaxed, informal setting of her lovely home provides a warm and calm atmosphere in which to learn the massage techniques and spend some quality time bonding with your baby. Sally is a wonderful teacher with a wealth of knowledge on child development, and each week she would share her research and insights on particular topics and then we would chat about it over tea and cakes. As a first time mum, I found this so useful and it gave me the confidence to listen to my baby and let her tell me what she needed rather than relying on books. I wish the course was longer!

I have tried quite a few different activities with Archie, however this is the first thing we have done that he really enjoyed! Sally is a great teacher and so welcoming into her lovely home which makes the experience so relaxing. I would highly recommend this class and a big thank you to Sally for the classes and the cakes....gorgeous!

this class was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. Sally is a wonderful teacher - very relaxed and patient. She teaches you the skills to use at home on your baby at their own pace. Sally's home is a beautiful setting, the classes small (4 in our class) so great for meeting other mums and very enjoyable. The home made cakes are a bonus. I could not recommend this class more!

I have to agree with the comments below. I have recently finished the course with my three month old son called Daniel. He loved the experience as much as I did. Sally is a wonderful host and teacher who was very welcoming and made us both feel at ease. The atmosphere was very friendly, relaxed and calm. I really looked forward to my Monday afternoons - gave me an opportunity to bond with Daniel, chat with other Mums and eat delicious homemade cakes!!! Daniel enjoyed the massages especially the back and legs. Sometimes he would arrive in a mood but always seemed to leave relaxed! Thank you Sally, Nicky

I have to agree with the other comments that Sally's baby massage class is really wonderful. The babies are massaged in the comfort of Sally's home which is extremely welcoming, relaxing and homely where everything that is needed is provided. Sally puts the individual needs of the babies first and adapts the massage to suit them when needed. The classes are very relaxed and informal therefore it is not a problem if your baby cries, feeds or just doesn't want to be massaged at that particular time. It's also a great opportunity to chat to other mums over a cup of tea and a slice of cake! Sally puts a lot of effort and a great deal of thought in to each class which is what makes them so enjoyable and special for mums and babies alike. Lucy.

Sally's massage course is a really enjoyable experience. The class is held in her beautiful and calm home with a small group of parents allowing you to not only learn baby massage but to bond with your baby, share experiences with other new mums and make new friends. Sally is extremely welcoming and takes you through the massage step by step allowing time for each individual baby and their needs. Its fine if you baby cries or needs feeding during the class as Sally will go back over certain massage techniques and provide you with clear handouts to try at home. It has been a once a week escape for me on a Monday morning to chat with Sally and other mums over a lovely cup of tea and homemade cake whilst at the same time allowing me to have a quiet time with my baby away from all the demands of a toddler at home and housework! and of course i have learnt to massage my baby correctly and he loves it! I attended this course run by Sally when my son was 4 mths old. It was a great excuse to get me out of the house and spend some time quality time with him. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and chatting with other adults!!!. Toby really enjoyed the massage, rhymes and spending time with the other babies. He still loves his massage and even loves when I put his suncream on! We really loved the cakes too!!!!
