The official advice on eating salmon steaks in pregnancy
Good news, it's safe to eat salmon steaks in pregnancy. However you should limit the amount you eat.
The NHS says you should eat no more than two portions of oily fish a week. Oily fish include salmon, trout, mackerel and herring.
This is because oily fish can have pollutants such as dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls in them. If you eat too many of these pollutants, they can be harmful to your unborn baby.

Small amounts are fine though, and oily fish is very healthy for you while you're pregnant, as it contains Omega-3 which helps your baby's brain development. So there's certainly no need to cut it out completely.
Smoked salmon is also safe to eat in pregnancy.
