  • 80g blueberries

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 80g raspberries

  • Apple, banana, blueberries and strawberries, to decorate (optional)

For the porridge

  • 40g porridge oats

  • 300ml almond milk

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  1. Put the blueberries in a small saucepan with the maple syrup. Stir over the heat for a few minutes until the blueberries are just starting to soften, then remove from the heat and add the raspberries. Set aside.

  2. Place the oats in a small saucepan with the almond milk. Bring to the boil over a medium heat then reduce the heat and simmer for 4–5 minutes until thickened. Add the maple syrup.

  3. Spoon the porridge into bowls and top with the warm fruits.

  4. If you like, create an owl face by topping each portion with two apple slices for wings, sliced halves of banana for feathers, wedge of strawberry for a nose, and slices of bananas topped with blueberries for eyes.

Tips

Annabel Karmel's delicious porridge is packed with nutritious oats and almond milk to get your little one's day off to a great start. Top with fresh berries, and make cute owl faces with apple and banana slices to add to the fun. Makes 3 child's portions

If serving to babies or young children, cut any large berries in half before serving. Round foods can be a choking hazard for small children.

Love this! I only bought almond milk because it lasts longer than real milk, but it actually gives the porridge a really lovely flavour.
