We took our angel to this playgroup at the beginning of January 2024 . We was offered very limited settling in sessions . I made it clear to the manager and staff that our child has never been left with anyone but us as her parents . We were told we need to drop our child at the gates and just go . The staff had to physically pull our child out of it my arms screaming . She would then come home and be sick . She was waking during the night scared not letting us leave her . ( she has always slept in her own room all night great sleeper) . We would take her in and she would throw up everywhere from getting so worked up she’s only 2 years old . I would send emails every night to the manager really upset asking for help . To which she would always tell me to just drop her off and be firm . Some times I would come out of there hearing her cry and I would walk back to the car in tears . I’d be inconsolable all day . Eventually I spoke to the health visitor . She was deeply distressed and told me this was not acceptable and I was not been supported correctly . The the GP advised our child has servere separation anxiety and to stop playgroup immediately. My child also has nappy rash from her nappy not being changed during playgroup . I’d get her skin looking better by the evening and the next day upon return it was the same again . When I complained I was told it has been changed just before she left . ( that old chestnut ) The health advisor was given all emails and advise given by the manager at this playgroup and she has reported this to ofsted. The health visitor helped me not give up and we found another nursery . I received a very different response and within the hour a care plan was provided. My child had several settling in sessions with myself present in a lovely calming environment with all staff there talking to me as if we had known each other years . My child was immediately relaxed and started to play a few feet away from me . We are now 3 weeks in and I can drop my child at the door with her key worker waiting for her and she goes in full of smiles and comes out running covered in glitter and paint . She tells me all about her day and I feel like so much better . This playgroups manager is called felicity (fliss ) and I can’t tell you how much she has let us down as a family . It caused so much upset and unnecessary anxiety bevause she didn’t want to do her job properly and give a family that little bit of extra support . Being considered and supportive is a very valuable currency and it can create true happiness. This woman is in this important position she has the power to create so much happiness in children’s life’s and instead created utter turmoil and despair . I sincerely hope ofsted make changes and I warn every parent considering this nursery not to put thier child’s mental health at risk .

I used to take my children to this toddler group when they were little, and it's where I met most of my friends!

Hi Caroline, We were sorry to hear that you felt your first experience at our group was a negative one. We do our very best to welcome everyone on their first visit and pride ourselves on the friendly & welcoming atmosphere that we try to create. The group does not employ any professional staff but is run on a voluntary basis by parents who themselves bring a toddler to the session. As we hope you can appreciate, keeping one eye on your child and another on who is attending, as well as helping to run the activities during the session, can be an interesting challenge. We would encourage you to give the group another go – we are planning to display photographs of the parents who run the group by the entrance so that any newcomers feel more able to approach us to chat when on the rare occasion, we do not notice a new attendee.

I first visited this group when my Lo was 5wk old and was so suprised at how welcoming everyone was! The mums that ran the group introduced themselves and showed us the ropes. There is a lovely section for babies with playmate etc, they update and add new toys regularly, they have a fancy dress /home corner as well as a different fun craft session each week suitable for all ages. There is hot drinks n homemade cakes for adults and healthy snacks for kids. At the end of session everyone has a sing song with instruments. They also often do special trips in the holidays and have visitors selling books, cards etc. My son and I have made some lovely friends here and recommend it to any new parents. My Lo is now 9months old and we tried lots of diff groups but none compare to this lovely friendly and fun atmosphere. Hope to see some of u there :)

I've been to this group for two weeks, this week, and I can't fault it. It is very professionally run (there is a detailed plan for each week 'til christmas - I can't wait for the Christmas party!) and everyone is very friendly. There is even home made cake!! My 2.5 year old did a Butterfly today with glued on creped paper - he was so proud of it and he has taken it home to show daddy! There is so much for him to do he doesn't stop! We had gone to another group on the other side of Worcester for about 1.5 years and there is just no comparison! What a discovery! Really highly recommended. :)

Wow sorry you found that Caroline. I've been going for four years and it's one of the friendliest places I've been, not to mention the toys are kept in great nick, there's something different to do every week and there's homemade cake :) I'm sure if you try it again you'll have a more positive experience! Chat to some of the people, or I'll look out for new faces. It's not always easy when you're chasing a munchkin... Hope to see you there soon :)
