Young V&A, London

About

Introducing Young V&A. The UK’s premier national museum entirely dedicated to children, designed with young people. teachers and families.

We're creating a national museum dedicated to young people, from early years to teens – a space to imagine, play and design. We want to unlock your creativity and connect you with inspiring objects, projects and people from across the V&A's vast collection of art, design and performance.

The things around us can shape and improve our lives – they reflect what matters to us. Our clothes, books, possessions and games are important because they say something about us, the world we live in, and how we live in it.

Three new gallery spaces, Play, Imagine and Design, will showcase the vast scope of the V&A's collections – from 5000 years ago to today – through interactive displays, dedicated workshops, and spaces for hands-on making.
Young visitors will be invited to develop creative skills through performance, play and design, with an amphitheatre-style stage in Imagine, a free-play construction area in Play, and a working Open Studio in Design.

Good museum for children of all ages. As well as the exhibits there are areas in which children can play making it a good trip for kids of varying ages. There are also regular events and older children can complete a museum trail. You also find yourself getting nostalgic as you recognise toys from your own childhood.

We paid a visit to the museum during the Easter holidays. There was 8 children within our group aged from 21 months to 7 years, and we managed to find something of interest for all the children. The museum had planned various free activities to engage the children from story telling to arts and crafts. The museum is beside Bethnal Green Park, where we took the opportunity to have a picnic as the weather was so wonderful. The children loved to run around the park playing hide and seek. We left the museum with tired children carrying their Easter bunny masks that they made. The museum also brought back my childhood memories of the toys that I use to play with, worth checking it out.

Note: We advise you check these details are up-to-date before planning a visit.
